Hi! I’m Shannon of Made in Howland. Erin has been one of my very dear friends since college (which is becoming a long time ago). We were roommates in South America, and psychology-students-turned-artists after graduation. I’m honored by this little feature :)

I started my little shop just over a year ago, as a creative outlet. It’s filled with handmade and handpicked items. My favorite pieces are functional and artful, especially if they have a story to tell. I’m drawn to using durable materials, with a bit of flair, like floral and geometric patterns, or classic vintage details.

I’ve been an artist my whole life, learning the trades of painting and sewing at a young age. I enjoy every step of the creative process: piecing together inspiration (love me some pinterest !), treasure hunting, making a mess of my studio, and taking plenty of pictures along the way :)

I started off bartering paintings with friends for things like photo shoots and airline buddy passes. I’ve since incorporated graphic design, print, photography, an apparent speciality in pillow-making, plus a healthy dose of thrifting. Last year I finally gave it all a face and a name. Made in Howland is my creative haven and my full-time hobby.

I’ve had a lot of studios over the years (at one point, I even shared space in one of Erin’s spare bedrooms), and love having a space to be inspired. It doesn’t matter where that space is, only that I have one. It’s my favorite place to escape and dream.
